Antoine Louis Van Engelen

He was a painter of historical subjects, landscapes, portraits, urban landscapes and genre scenes.

Engelen studied under Veriat at the academy in Lierre and later went to the Koninklijke in Antwerp.

He was an enthusiastic traveller and was also a member of the Als 1k Kan (as I can) group and a founder member of the “X111” group in 1891.
