Joseph Quinaux

1822-1895

Joseph Quinaux was born on the 29th of March at Namur where he went on to study with Ferdinand Marinus at the Academy of Fine Arts in his home town. His training continued at Anvers and then at Louvain.

He was made a professor at the academy in Brussels and while he was there he received a special medal and a knighthood to the order of Leopold.

Among his favourite places to paint were landscapes of the Ardennes and Luxembourg.

He is in 3 museums :-at Anvers (2 works), Brussels-the Royal Museum ( 2 works) and Sydney (3 works).
