History:
From the Louis III/Louis IV period. Named after Charles Le Brun who was Louis XIV’s First Painter. The raised corners with flowers often includes the sunflower symbolic of Louis XIV, known as the ‘Sun King’. Commonly used on portraits. This design illustrates gold leaf painted on a sgraffito design and then highly burnished.
